Five Winter Patios in North Vancouver To Make Your Aprés Season Bright

News

Winter is coming to The Shipyards District, and you know what that means: aprés season! At the end of a long day shredding on the slopes, there may be no better way to warm your bones and fill your tummy than bites and bevvies on a cozy, heated patio. Here are some of our favourite winter patios in the neighbourhood to park your crew for a little aprés al fresco:

If a more elevated dining experience is your style, grab a table on the patio at Fishworks. Offering globally-inspired cuisine made with fresh and local ingredients, this intimate gathering spot prides itself on sustainably-sourced seafood and an impressive selection of B.C. wines. A friendly air of sophistication will greet you at the door, and the rustic contemporary aesthetic is sure to warm you up over happy hour Caesars on the patio.

Must try: If rosemary-infused gin and house-pickled beans catch your fancy, try the Fishworks Caesar.

What once was a longstanding North Vancouver pub has been transformed in recent years to bring you seasonal and innovative culinary delights, with fresh classic cocktails to pair. Everything is made from scratch in this family-owned establishment, and the bar is stocked with small-batch spirits, a thoughtful wine list, and local brews (except Guinness, of course). Head over to The Gull for aprés on their patio and let their friendly staff get you nice and toasty.

Must try: The Champs Elysees cocktail will put some serious pep in your shopping steps.

From woodfired pizzas and homemade pasta, to delicious wines and a Negroni worth dreaming about, Nook is your go-to spot for a little post-ski (or shopping) Italian refuel. There are no reservations here, but you won’t regret a short wait for this on-point and carefully-crafted fare. The ambiance is always lowkey and inviting too; just check out some of their staff-curated playlists to get in the groove before and aprés your snow days. Psst! Nook’s patio is also right in The Shipyards Commons; that means you’ll be steps away from the seasonal ice rink when it opens!

Must try: Their Negroni (duh)! Why mess with a classic?

Believe it or not, three of the best winter patios in The Shipyards District just so happen to be within stumbling distance of one another! Our unofficially coined “Restaurant Row” is a great place to kick some ice off your boots and settle in for a hot meal.

  • Anatoli Souvlaki: Voted best Greek food from 2020 to 2022, you’ll find family-friendly vibes and even some vegetarian and vegan souvlaki.

Must try: Icarus’ Wings is a spirit-forward way to warm you from the inside out.

  • Burgoo Bistro: Craving comfort food? This Vancouver staple has been bringing the biscuits, BBQ and gooey cheese grillers for over 20 years.

Must try: Feeling a little spicy? Try the Pulpoloco Sangria in red or white!

  • Raglan’s Bistro: For tiki drinks, nachos, and a whole lot of poutine, look no further than Raglan’s. Head into this hopping neighbourhood spot, and you’ll definitely leave full.

Must try: Moscow Mule served in a copper mug, as a proper mule should be.
