Everything You Need To Know About Shipyards Festival 2023

News

Are you ready for Shipyards Festival 2023? It’s coming your way this September, and this is one local summer event you definitely don’t want to miss! If it’ll be your first time attending the fest, just imagine multiple live music stages, food trucks and craft beer gardens, cool artist and vendor booths, an awesome kid zone to keep the little ones entertained, and a whole lot of fun, friends, and good times for all. Oh, and did we mention it’s FREE to attend?!

If that sounds like your kind of day, here’s everything you’re going to want to know before you go:

WHAT Is This All About?

Presented by https://theshipyardsdistrict.ca/, Shipyards Fest is a whole day of music, food, and fun for the whole family to enjoy. Absolutely FREE to attend, this year’s artist lineup will feature a ton of amazing musicians like SonReal, Sol, and Mikey Jose, and they’ll all be playing shows throughout the day on stages in Shipyard Commons and Shipbuilders’ Square. A variety of local food trucks will also be available on the festival grounds, in addition to a location-wide beer garden featuring local craft beers. There will be a Seaspan Family Zone with kids’ attractions, and artisan booths to peruse as well. Vendors like BAK’D Cookies, and Stik Icepops will be on-hand, among others, and the festival grounds are walking distance to all kinds of restaurants and bars in The Shipyards District that are great places to relax over a sit-down lunch or dinner break too.

WHO should attend?

Shipyards Festival is for everyone, of course! We do kindly ask that you leave your pups at home, however, since it’s going to be a busy day, and not suitable for pets. This family-friendly event welcomes kids of all ages to join in the fun, and the Seaspan Family Zone will be rocking out with kid-friendly entertainment, music, and dancing, a children’s play area, and lots of other goodies too.

WHEN is the big day?

It’s all going down on Saturday, September 23rd from noon to 10 pm, so mark those calendars now!

WHERE will it be, and HOW do I get there?

The day’s events will take place in Shipyards Commons, and in various other locations along the North Vancouver waterfront between The Shipyards District and Lonsdale Quay. You can get there by public transit, bike, or car, but we recommend public transit or bike, as parking is limited, and can be tricky in the area. This year, there will also be a

Car Free Day Zone on Carrie Cates, which offers hassle-free bike parking with Bike Valet at no additional cost! If that’s not a reason to get those two-wheelers out for a nice summer spin, we don’t know what is! If you need to drive, we definitely suggest carpooling, taking a ride-share or using Evo to minimize parking troubles, and the impact on our local neighbours.

WHY should I go?

Who doesn’t love a reason to spend a beautiful sunny day (fingers crossed, but the event will happen rain or shine!) celebrating the last of this year’s summertime with the ones they love? Shipyards Festival has a little something for everyone, from the music fans in your life, to the food and beer lovers, and even to the little ones who hate to be left out of a good time. For the most up-to-date info, news, and announcements, head over to The Shipyards District Facebook or Instagram, and we hope to see you on September 23rd!
