XOXO Fibre is a one-of-a-kind fibre arts festival taking place on September 29th, 2024, at The Pipe Shop in North Vancouver. This community-focused event is built around the values of accessibility, equity, and inclusion, offering a welcoming space where fibre enthusiasts of all abilities, backgrounds, and experiences can connect and create.
At XOXO Fibre, we believe that the arts should be accessible to everyone. Our venue is fully wheelchair accessible, and we provide sliding scale tickets to remove financial barriers. Children 16 and under can attend for free, closing the generational gap, and attendants assisting visitors with disabilities are welcomed at no cost. We are also proud to offer Sign Language Interpreters for our community chat lead by Fatimah Hinds of Disturbing the Fleece on “Building Welcoming Communities,” ensuring that all voices can engage in meaningful conversation.
This festival isn’t just about shopping for yarn and fibre—it’s a celebration of how fibre crafts can bring people together, improve mental well-being, and foster community care. Research has shown that fibre arts can bolster mood, increase self-confidence, and reduce stress, and XOXO Fibre creates the space to experience these benefits firsthand through workshops, demonstrations, a community “Craft Hangout”, collaborative art project and more.
XOXO Fibre stands out for its commitment to not only promoting the local fibre arts makers and businesses but also for creating a truly inclusive and accessible space. Join us for a day of learning, connecting, and celebrating the transformative power of fibre crafts!
