The first Great Canadian Kilt Skate in BC will take place at the The Shipyards Skate Plaza on Saturday, February 18 at 8:30 pm. Everyone is invited, so grab your kilt or tartans and show your appreciation for Scotland’s contribution to Canada. This is a free event hosted by ScotFestBC, but capacity is limited so registration is required in advance via Eventbrite.
The Great Canadian Kilt Skate is an annual event, taking place across Canada in January and February each year. It started in Ottawa with a one-person celebration of Sir John A. MacDonald’s birthday on January 11 and has since spread to cities across Canada and in parts of the US.
There will be hot chocolate, Celtic music, and bagpiping. Skate and helmet rentals are available. Note that kids under 12 must wear a helmet (free).
