On Reconciliation Day, programming at MONOVA will be offered free for families to gather and reflect. Many activities will be available throughout the day for families to learn from together.
– Gallery tours, belongings and archival materials focusing on the history of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh and Səl̓ílwətaɬ First Nations
– Readings of children’s stories exploring the history of residential schools
– Oral storytelling sessions of Coast Salish and Indigenous legends told by one of MONOVA’s Indigenous Cultural Programmers
– Games on the themes of Indigenous rights in Canada and the history of residential school apologies will be available to play
– A self-guided activity sheet to encourage explorations of Indigenous history in MONOVA’s galleries
– Space to write messages of hope and reconciliation on orange paper t-shirts and rocks for MONOVA’s community display and garden
